Eligibility Criteria
- Any person (Pakistani/Overseas Pakistani/Foreign National) shall be eligible
to register for and attempt the MDCAT examination. - FSC/HSSC/A level result/degree IS NOT required for MDCAT
registration. - A candidate is permitted to take the MDCAT exam only once in each
calendar year.

There is a total of 6000 MBBS Seats in Public and Private medical colleges in Punjab. The 775 Seats for BDS. Pakistan Medical & Dental Council PMDC has decided to reset the 60 percent eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS in Pakistan.
Also, there will be no pass-fail criteria for MDCAT. Before this, students scoring less than 50 percent marks in the Medical & Dental Colleges admission test MDCAT were declared failed. These important decisions were taken in a meeting chaired by the Registrar PMDC.
During the PMC period, 15 medical and dental colleges were registered. It was informed in the meeting that instead of 70% condition for admission in medical college, 60% marks eligibility criteria will be maintained. Also, the condition of scoring 50% passing marks in the test by PMDC has been abolished. Even those with low marks will now be eligible for admission to medical colleges as in the past.
It was informed in the meeting that the process of cancellation of admission after failing four times has also been restored. Addressing the meeting, PMDC President Justice (Retd) Ijaz Afzal said that when the High Court has declared the PMC null and void, all the decisions taken by it are also null and void. The registration of colleges has also been cancelled and now they have to apply for re-registration.
